A Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA), an APRN, operates both independently and in collaboration with various healthcare providers as part of an interprofessional team to administer high-caliber, holistic, evidence-based anesthesia and pain care services. They attend to patients of all acuity ranges throughout their lifespan in various settings for a range of procedures, encompassing surgical, obstetrical, diagnostic, therapeutic, and pain management realms. Essential Job Function: • The responsibilities of the CRNA in a clinical setting are defined by their clinical privileges. • Assists in compiling, examining, and appraising the complete dataset concerning the patient's medical history, surgical interventions, and their implications for the intended procedure. • Upkeeps a protected atmosphere and handles emergencies and safety threats with appropriate actions. • Dispenses and delivers medications and fluids according to recognized safety measures. • Continuous assessment of the airway, depth of anesthesia, fluid status, and the body's physiological reactions to anesthesia is crucial in upholding patient safety. • Aids in the completion of all essential paperwork: the surgical safety checklist, the pre-op assessment, the intraoperative anesthetic log, and the transfer-of-care documentation. • Documents incident reports using the computerized Safety Portal. • Executes any other responsibilities as delegated. Education • Required: Graduate of a nurse anesthesia educational program accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs or its predecessor. Experience Licensure/Certification/Listing • Required: North Carolina Registered Nurse (RN) licensure Recognition as an Advanced Practice RN by the NC Board of Nursing Certification/ Recertification as a Registered Nurse Anesthetist by the National Board of Certification & Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists (NCBRNA).BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare ProviderACLS CertificationPALs or NPR per campus recommendation
