Job Summary Masters prepared specialty anesthesiologist assistant working under the direction of a licensed anesthesiologist. Administers anesthesia protocols to patients and follows up on after care. The supervising Anesthesiologist shall, at all times, be responsible for the activities of the Anesthesiologist Assistant. Limited to select locations based on unique workplace dynamics. Essential Functions Of The Role • Administers anesthesia under the medical direction of an anesthesiologist, including careful consideration of the patient’s cardiovascular, respiratory, and metabolic health. Utilizes advanced treatment modalities such as advanced airway interventions, intubation, vasoactive infusions, anesthetic drugs, blood products, and other treatments prescribed by the supervising anesthesiologist. • Consults with the supervising anesthesiologist for induction of anesthesia, extubation of the trachea, unexpected or adverse perioperative events, or whenever the prescribed anesthetic deviates significantly from its expected course. • Establishes a comprehensive patient database via chart/medical record review, patient examination, and interview to assist in anesthetic planning. Orders appropriate pre‑op evaluations and pre‑medications after consultation with the anesthesiologist, who then is responsible for these orders. Develops a patient‑focused culture that promotes the BEST Patient Care. • Initiates multi‑parameter monitoring prior to anesthesia or in other acute care settings, including ASA standard monitors, arterial and venous catheters, and accurately manipulates and interprets data from central venous, pulmonary artery, and intracranial catheters and other indicated monitoring devices. • Assists in postoperative management of patients, managing post‑op ventilator support and acute pain management in conjunction with existing protocols or the attending anesthesiologist. Qualifications • Education – Master’s degree • Experience – Less than 1 year of experience • Certification/License/Registration – Certified Anesthesiologist Assistant (AA‑C)
